Xerjoff Casamorati Dolce Amalfi, composed by Miroslav Petkov, opens with quince, cardamom, apple and saffron, moves into a spiced heart of cloves, tolu balsam and incense, and settles into a warm base of vanilla, tonka bean, amber, cedar and musk. Inspired by the Amalfi coast, it's less about citrus freshness and more about a rich, spiced-fruit oriental character — quince and apple giving a soft, autumnal sweetness against the incense and vanilla base. Dolce Amalfi suits colder months and evening wear, with the strong sillage and excellent longevity typical of Xerjoff's Casamorati 1888 line, and is a good choice for anyone who likes spiced, ambery orientals with a fruity top rather than a clean or citrus-forward opening. Given Xerjoff's premium pricing, a Maison decant (1/2/5/10 ml) is the sensible way to experience Dolce Amalfi's quince-clove-vanilla development before deciding on the full bottle.
