Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede, created by perfumer Quentin Bisch and named for the moon of Jupiter, opens with saffron and Italian mandarin, moves into a heart of Chinese osmanthus, immortelle and violet leaf, and settles into a mineral, suede-like base built on Akigalawood, musk, cedar and patchouli. The effect is cool and 'mineral' rather than warm or spicy — a modern, slightly abstract woody-spicy composition often compared to the texture of stone or metal, with the osmanthus giving a subtle leathery-apricot facet. Ganymede suits autumn and winter especially, with strong, long-lasting wear and the kind of understated, conversation-starting character that niche fans look for. It's a good match for anyone who wants something distinctive rather than a mainstream designer scent.
