Diptyque Orphéon is a tribute to a nostalgic 1960s Parisian jazz bar in Saint-Germain, composed by Olivier Pescheux. It opens with sparkling juniper berries, develops a smooth jasmine heart, and settles into a soft, powdery base of cedar and tonka bean. The overall effect is warm, comforting and slightly retro — more soft-focus than sharp, with the powdery tonka-cedar dry-down giving it a cosy, all-season wearability that has made it a favourite 'if I could only own one perfume' pick among reviewers. It suits both men and women, works well from autumn through spring, and has the moderate-to-good longevity typical of Diptyque's eau de parfum line. Orphéon is an easy recommendation for anyone who wants a refined, quietly sensual scent rather than something loud or trend-driven.
